David's Church Photos
Europe, Guam, Guatemala, and North America

The photos below are not of concerts. Concert photos are here.
I've been traveling playing music and took these pictures of Churches and other Christian pilgrimage sites. There are beautiful Churches from all denominations all over Europe but this is where the Catholics shine. The architecture was breathtaking. These are low resolution copies. ©2004-2005 David MacDonald. Tradition, going back to the first centuries, says that these are the chains that were used to bind the apostle Peter, (behind the candles)

Basilica in Venice

Poland

In a salt mine 300 feet below the ground in Wieliczka, Poland, is this beautiful basilica. The chandeliers and statues are made completely from rock salt by miners working in the salt mine. This enabled them to celebrate Mass here.

Above: Before John Paul II became Pope he was here as a priest. I had the pleasure of playing play music during Mass. Niegowic, Poland.

Above and below: In Auschwitz, a polish soldier Stefan Jasienski, etched a sacred heart of Jesus into the cement wall of his cell. He also drew himself in the picture. He has his arms are around Jesus' waist. A profile of his face is looking at the Sacred heat of Jesus. He was likely killed at the camp. Around the corner from this cell was where Saint Maximillian Kolby died. He was a priest who took the place of a Jewish father who was to die. The Jewish man survived and attended Maxillian's beatification.
