Eulogy For Bruce MacDonald
By Gordon MacDonald (with devotion to David Jr. and Kevin -Bruce &
Brenda's sons)
Thank you for coming. We are deeply appreciative.
The grief and pain that we all feel is complex. The circumstances surrounding
this tragedy are incomprehensible. We are here to say goodbye to Bruce, that
goodbye is framed by tragic circumstances of his death. Bruce took his own
life, after taking the life of his wife Brenda. Two beautiful children have
been left behind.
David and Kevin we all love you very, very much, your grandpa Colin, grandma
Joyce, your uncles David, Roderick, and Gord, your aunts Kathy and Anna, your
cousins Graham, Emily, Valerie, Pat, and Stephanie.
Your grandparents Don and Terri and the other family members love you with equal devotion. We will all be there for you - always. You are very, very important members of our family and nothing will ever change that. We are bound together by the deepest love possible.
Brenda each and every one of us will love you forever. We will miss the sharpness of your wit, your warm sense of humour, the sparkle in your eye, your warm friendly smile, and your remarkable intelligence. You were an incredibly fun person to be around - when you walked into a room, that room lit up. We wish you were still with us, but we will see you when the time comes, but I know that you want all of us to live long happy lives - especially David and Kevin. You were a super mom in this life. You continue to look down upon David and Kevin from above.
Bruce, we don't know what went so terribly wrong on that tragic night. We don't know what triggered the terrible events, which bring us here today. There was so much in your life that was good.
There was so much in you that was good. The way your life ended will never change that. I remember your zest for life. You created beautiful woodwork and beautiful leatherwork, and there were so many other activities as well. You always were happy to share your extensive knowledge, which spanned so many disciplines, with anyone who requested it. You were involved in many community activities such as Tball and beavers. We shared and delighted in the company of you, Brenda, David and Kevin at the numerous family get-togethers that took place over the years. There were so many genuine, true, heartfelt good times, they did happen, and I pray that they are remembered. We should allow the memory of these good events to hold their rightful place in the path of time.
We hope and pray that you are in a better place now. We hope and pray that you are at peace.
