David MacDonald Biography

Ottawa native David MacDonald speaks English and French and holds a B. Com (Magna cum Laude) from the University of Ottawa. He has a diverse career. He is president of a thriving disability accommodation company and he tours as a Christian songwriter and performer. David's previous career included performing on Broadway, and in the US National Tour of "Cats." He is well known in Pro Life circles for his annual testimony and music at Canada's National March for Life on Parliament Hill.

David is an Invited Expert and the only Canadian on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group of the W3C, the internet authority responsible for governing the rules of the World Wide Web. He was granted a Canadian patent for inventing a zero force keyboard for persons with disabilities which was recommended by the US National Job Accommodation Network.

He helped Intel Corp., Bank of America, Citizen's Bank of Rhode Island, Canada Mortgage and Housing, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters create web sites that were accessible to the blind. His articles have been featured in Abilities magazine. David has been a consultant for the Ontario Disability Support Program ODSP, TD Bank, RBC, Scotia Bank, Health Canada, the Canadian Space Agency, the National Research Council, the RCMP, and Industry Canada. He participated in the Provincial Government's round table discussions on the Ontarians with Disabilities Act. He lectured on computer access for persons with disabilities for the First Nations Education Conference in Quebec City, University of Ottawa, National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) in Vancouver and Corrections Canada in Montreal. He was director of the day program of the International Day of Disabled Persons at the Ottawa Congress Centre.

David's previous career included performing on Broadway, and in the US National Tour of "Cats." He also co-starred in films for Paramount and Columbia Pictures, produced music for CBS records and NBCTV in New York. In recent years, David has returned to music and as Christian singer and songwriter he has performed across Canada and the US, Guam, Guatemala, the Barbados, St. Lucia, Europe and India. In 2006 he had a weekly radio talk show on CHRI FM called "Bridging the Gap". He has appeared many TV and radio shows including CBC "In Town and Out" with Rob Clipperton.
